With the wide range of choices in today’s market, getting the right hosting provider for your needs can be a tricky task. Here are a few tips to keep in mind when shopping around.

Will you be hosting more than one site?
Choose a plan where you can host unlimited domains. There is no point in paying $5.00 per site when you can host all for less than $10.00. Also go for unlimited MySQL databases, since configuring multiple scripts to run on the same database can sometimes be difficult.

Storage and bandwidth caps
Whether you are hosting a personal blog or a huge portal, bandwidth and storage limitations are issues to be taken into account. You can never know when you will get a huge spike in traffic and go over the allotted limit. As a side note, unmetered hosting usually comes with a fair use policy. If you anticipate massive amounts of traffic, you should consider purchasing a VPS or a dedicated server.

Terms and conditions
Make sure you read the terms of the hosting company before purchasing a plan. There are servers where certain content types (like proxies or adult material) are prohibited.

Just wanted to make a quick post here to plug our new VPS page. We have completed some comprehensive studies of the reliable VPS systems offered by a a few different web hosting companies. These web hosts are offering the most reliable VPS systems you will encounter. Each VPS system holds a very small number of user, around 10 per server, rather than your standard hosting that will houses 100’s to 1000’s of users per server. A VPS will give you the speed and reliability your busy website or business needs without paying $100+ for a dedicated server.

It is an industry standard for web hosting companies to advertise their rates as per month, such as $2.99/mo, but in actuality they only accept annual payments. Some people are a little surprised by this, but all it takes is a little research and you will quickly see that most web hosting companies follow this practise. One of my favorite web hosts is WebHostingPad. They advertise an amazing price of $1.99/mo. The full details of this plan are as follows: 1 Year prepayment: $4.95/mo., 2 Year prepayment: $2.75/mo., 3 Year prepayment: $1.99/mo. Now 3 years can sound like a long time, but when you actually stop and do the math, you are buying 3 years of web hosting for less than $72! That is an amazing return for your dollar.

So the newest fad is going green or being 100% windpowered. Right? This is great that these companies are doing their part, but is it dishonest that they are really just buying renewable energy credits (rec)? Some might have a problem with this, but I don’t see the problem. They are still investing into wind energy projects with the same amount of money they spend on electricity in a year. This is a big commitment. When I first started hearing about these things, I thought the companies were literally putting wind turbines on top of their buildings. If you what to do business with a web host that is completely green, check out my website! www.WebHostReview1.com
